I have to admit that I’m a bit of a stats junkie. I love knowing who’s coming to my website, how they found my website, and what pages are getting the love from the search engines. I’ve often relied on using what my web host provided as far as stats programs went. They were handy because they were pre-installed and just there for me to use.
To be perfectly honest, I don’t know if I’ve really been overly satisfied with any that I’ve used. So when I came across IndexTools I thought I’d give it a whirl and see if I could use it!
Is it easy to install?
Yes, it was very easy. To start using the 15 day free trial of IndexTools, you just need to do 3 things.
- 1. Fill out the form to create your free account
- 2. Cut and paste the tracking code into your web pages
- 3. Start tracking your website performance in real time
Yes, it is that simple. Much like Google Analytics, IndexTools just needs you to create an account and add some code to your site – simple cut and paste and away you go. It’s super simple and the details you get back are very precise and gives you a better idea of who’s visiting, products that are popular, content on certain pages that bring people to your site from their search engine searches.
When you log into your account the main dashboard gives you a quick overview of how your site is performing. It gives you a quick snapshot of key performancing metrics – which means you can set goals, track progress and identify any points that might cause you problems or need improvement with your website. The handy thing about IndexTools, is that you can customize your personal stats dashboard to show what you feel is important, right off the bat and where your not searching for key stats information every time you log into your account.
With the custom reporting feature with IndexTools, you would be able to add or subtract metrics within a given report using the Custom Report Wizard. If you like the result, you can bookmark that report for future use. This saves time, and the reports are broken down into categories that you choose.
IndexTools comes with the ability to monitor events such as website changes, public holidays, system outages, that can affect your website. IndexTools will profide you a comprehensive analysis of statistics to show the effects of the changes. Here is where you can stay in control of your website’s performance by setting up customized email alerts for yourself or your co-workers.
If you want to know how your CPC is performing on your website, IndexTools has the capabilities to give you the stats you need. The CPC live cost analysis will gather the dynamic price information from the leading PPC search engines and what your making with your website. IndexTools will gather the live data provided by the paid search engines – currently Google and Yahoo!.
If you running more than PPC or if you’ve delved into banner advertising, IndexTools can assist in keeping track of your marketing campaign results. This includes tracking CPC, CPM, and CPA models. You can break it down and define categories to display in your reports. You can even test how different groups of visitors will respond to your landing pages, page layouts, and calls to action on your webpage. If you have a shopping cart on your website you can track individual products that your customers purchase, add to their cart and preview through IndexTools software. You can then create custom reports to breakdown and define product categories. From there you can update your reports to show any cancelled orders or changes to order amounts. The power of IndexTools can even show the cross-sell analysis of how often products are purchased in combination with other products. It’s a very powerful tool in the art of the upsell.
IndexTools goes further to allow you to see the results for two time periods, side-by-side on the same page. This is a great way to see how testing landing pages, squeeze pages, etc worked out for you. The ability to see two time periods can be bookmarked in IndexTools for reference later – and that saves time.
The ability to see how people got to certain pages of your website can be quite an eye-opener. Did they find the site through a search engine link? Did they dig through your site’s links? Did they find your link on another website? You can answer those questions using IndexTools software and see exactly where your visitors are coming from with the use of their Path Explorer.
Finally what was very interesting using this software was the Askit help feature. It answers questions you might have about the web analytics reports in a plain-language executive sumary of the data that is shown on your screen. The IndexTools software is also very handy because apart from the cut-n-paste code you add to your site, everything else is offsite. You don’t have to be a programmer or have to install any software for this program to work with your website.
