I have a few websites that I would LOVE to get up in the search engine rankings. I just didn’t know where to start, and I searched around and found the OptiLink software. OptiLink lets you know when you run your #1 page, how to make it better. As they say, Ranking your site is a battle, there are hundreds of millions of webpages out there and you have to find a way to make your site show up on the first page and what would be better than a #1 slot on the search engines. Is it possible? How does someone like me get my site up to that level?

From the OptiLink site there are three simple steps to ranking well in the search engines, and they are:

1. Pick a search term and find the top ranked page
2. Compare your page to the top page using the OptiLink software
3. Change your own linking structure until your page is better

That seems simple enough to me, but do we need a software bundle to do this? Well, I can think of a few reasons why using the OptiLink software would make things easier for webmasters like myself. It saves us time. Rather than rooting through our competition’s webpages we can use software – it saves us time and sorts the information for us into easy to understand pages. How do we get top ranking for our pages – is it in the links on our pages? Well yes, you would also have to take into consideration that on each webpage you have to think about keyword density, the total number of links to your page (which is called link popularity) and that pesky page reputation. What is that exactly? How do I get that for my webpages?

The OptiLink software seems to be comprehensive enough to answer these questions. The software will complete keyword counting for the entire page that you choose and focused on the specific rules that each search engine uses. There will be a total link counts report for the selected engine and a word by word analysis of ever link pointing to the page. This where OptiLink will separate the top 10 from everyone else. This will help save you time and I think would definitely help even when you’re considering a new site topic, or wanting to work on improving and existing site that you have.

When I look at OptiLink this gives me the opportunity to see what the big players in my niche are doing to make their sites number one on the search engines. What keywords are they using? How many links are going to their site? Which pages are getting the links? Of course I think I could find the information myself – but the time spent sifting through each page for keywords, links in and out, I would love to have something more automated. At the OptiNiche site they even say that you can do this by yourself, if you enter your URL, do a search at your favourite engine (like Yahoo, Google, MSN) and it will return all pages that link to yours. Then you need to visit every one of those pages, find where the page links to you and then copy the link text into a spreadsheet, the third thing you would need to do is divide up the links into separate words and use your spreadsheet program to add up what percentage of links use each word, and finally you measure the keywords on your page and in the titles of all the linking pages and you could build a chart.

Anyone could do this, but if there was a software program out there like OptiNiche, then why not use it to make things faster. With the OptiNiche software you can get a detailed picture of how your competition’s sites are linked together, who registered them and what they are about. It just seems so convenient to use their software.
