Google alerts is a nifty little free program that Google launched last year. It allows you to monitor Google for any mention of a keyword you choose. It will send you emails when it finds a new page with that keyword on it.
I currently use Alerts to track when someone mentions one of my sites, such as Textlinkbrokers.com. This is essential for reputation management. When someone mentions us, I can get in there and make a comment or respond accordingly. It also allows me to watch for feedback from customers.
Don’t forget your competitors either. You can track them as well. You’ll be surprised to find out how much you can learn by reading others comments about your competition.
